History of Nutley War Memorial Trust

Nutley War Memorial Trust was formed in 1948 when a parcel of land was given by Frederick John Nttlefold for the benefit of the people of Nutley. The land was gradually sold off over the years and the proceeds used to build the Memorial Hall in commemoration of those from the village who lost their lives in the two world wars. The Trustees, who must all live in the village as defined by the Trust Deed, are drawn from all walks of life. As a result the Trustee committee has a wide range of experience and expertise to draw on. Currently the experience ranges from Architecture and Building to Employment Law and Accountancy.

The Trustees are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting by the villagers.

The Trustees elect from amongst their members a Chairman nd up to four Holding Trustees. The Holding Trustees are the nominal owners of the Trust's property and hold heir office for life, or until they resign.
